After a 1-0 win over the Washington Spirit last week, the Chicago Red Stars were looking to get their first back-to-back win of the season and to build off of their gritty performance.

The Red Stars got off to a fast start from the beginning of the match. In the 7th minute, Chicago forward Vanessa DiBernardo took a strike but it hid the side netting of the goal. Chicago had some good chances in the first half, but they were not able to connect to score.

Before the end of the first half, Kealia Watt took a shot that looked to have been deflected off the hand of Houston defender Megan Oyster, but it was not called by the referee.

In the 62nd minute, Dash forward Jasmyn Spencer dribbled the ball down the pitch. The ball bounced off of the feet of a Red Stars defender and landed at the feet of Veronica Latsko who found the net to give Houston the first goal of the match.

Ten minutes later Mallory Pugh delivered a ball off of a free-kick that led to an own goal to tie it for Chicago. The Red Stars didn’t stop there. Three minutes later, Morgan Gautrat sent a cross in that was put in the goal by a Houston defender to make it 2-1 Chicago.

Chicago will look to make it three wins in a row on Sunday, July 18th as they take on OL Reign at 5:00 PM CT.
