The United States came right out of the gate on a flat foot. Many see getting a result away from home as a good thing, even if it’s snatching one point. This is a good thing, if we are talking about the USMNT from 2018. This result is better than our last campaign, where we started the OCT with 2 losses. Ultimately make it extremely hard for Klinsman and Arena climb up the leaderboard. Gregg Berhalter made some interesting decisions when it came to the lineup. Ream in for Brooks was something straight out of left field, but when Gregg was asked about Brooks in the post game, he told us in the media that it was a “load management thing”. Having 3 games in one international game window is something teams have to adjust to. This should help the deeper teams, USA included. This team, even without Pulisic and Brooks, should have gotten 3 points against one of the weakest teams in CONCACAF. I get it, this team is young, this team was missing its star player, this El Salvador team is better than prior years. Yes, this is all true, but it only gets harder from here. The USMNT will face off with Canada in a must win game. Tyler Adams and Tim Ream both talked about after the game that the games at home need to be wins. This El Salvador team may qualify for the World Cup this go around the OCT. If the United States wants to be able to compete with the like of France, England and Brazil in this upcoming World Cup, they have to be getting the job done in CONCACAF Qualifying. I leave you with this quote from captain of the USMNT Tyler Adams, “Trust me, I rather play against England and France… The energy is completely different…you need to come ready to battle…you can’t be naive. The USMNT look to get 3 points in a must win match at home vs Canada. We move forward.
