The Dynamo stayed undefeated at home after a stalemate at Shell Energy Stadium versus Western Conference Club Real Salt Lake. The lights were too bright for the Dynamo on Saturday, failing to score a goal, even with multiple chances.

Before the game started news was broken that Zimbabwean defender Teenage Hadebe had picked up an injury, and would be out for at least six games. Hadebe was replaced in the starting lineup by Brazilian Centreback Micael who has spent most of the season with Dynamo 2 making his first start with the team.

The game started and the Dynamo played with a freeflow, type style, which often had midfielder Hector Herrera playing in the back at the Centreback position or even left-back Escobar playing up at left-winger.

The Dynamo opened the game with a quick chance from “Coco” Carrasquilla who was able to split the defense, but his shot flew wide. The Dynamo would continue to have a series of chances throughout the first half, but none better than the chance that was laid on a platter to Corey Baird who hit the crossbar, after a beautiful pass by Franco.

In the second half, the Dynamo played more of the same but began to struggle to connect a string of passes late into the game. The Dynamo had a late chance with winger Nelson Quinones getting a chance after winning the ball, who then cut inside passing it to Sebastian Ferreira who shot the ball well over.

Sporting Kansas City Preview

Sporting Kansas City who has struggled this year, has now found their footing beating a top Western Conference team, they will now look to beat the Houston Dynamo again in the U.S. Open Cup after beating them last year 2-1 at Children’s Mercy Park.

The Dynamo will look to advance in the U.S. Open Cup tournament this Wednesday at Shell Energy Stadium but will be forced to face heavy rotation in the upcoming week, with a U.S. Open Cup match on Wednesday against Sporting Kansas City, who defeated Saturday 13th’s opponent the Seattle Sounders 2-1 in a Lumen Field thriller.
