On Sunday, June 12, at Torero Stadium, San Diego Wave and OL Reign drew 1-1. Alex Morgan and Jess Fishlock scored the goals of the match.
San Diego started the game with more speed, putting danger to the posts defended by Tullis-Joyce, and soon managed to open the scoring with Alex Morgan when the keeper Sheridan sent her a long ball. Then, the forward was faster than the defenders and left-footed precisely to the back post, 1-0.
Reign took a while to get the plays on the field but they got quick passes and reached the equalizer through Fishlock, who received a beautiful pass from Rose Lavelle, 1-1.
After that, the match became more balanced, and Wave had more chances to score, but the attempts were not as accurate, and Tullis-Joyce made good saves to secure the tie that would guarantee a point for each team.
For the second half, Laura Harvey chose Megan Rapinoe to join the match, and in her first appearance, Rapinoe sent the ball over the crossbar, almost scoring a beautiful goal to take the lead. Almost.
As the game continued, the Seattle team maintained possession of the ball, but the plays in the offensive sector were not very effective, and Sheridan was also able to block them until the final whistle.
Reign’s next game will be against Angel City at Lumen Field on Saturday, June 18, at 10 PM ET.
