An independent NWSL panel analyzed the play and it rescinded the Red Card to the OL Reign’s Goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi, as it considered that the play wasn’t an “obvious goal-scoring opportunity”.
In a statement, the club said:
“OL Reign appealed the red card issued to goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi in the 70th minute of the match against Kansas City NWSL at Cheney Stadium on Sunday, July 11, 2021. The league’s Independent Review Panel determined that Bouhaddi had not denied an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, therefore OL Reign’s appeal was successful and all disciplinary actions have been rescinded.”
After the red card, Tziarra King was substituted by Ella Dederick, who played the remaining portion of the game as the OL Reign’s Goalkeeper.
