As reported back in June, Jacobo Reyes, a 22-year-old Mexican-American for Monterrey in Liga MX, has serious interest from American Clubs in MLS (Major League Soccer) and a move to the States could be of the player’s interest according to sources.
The left winger recently turned 22 back on August 11th and has represented both the US (U17 & U19) and Mexico (U15) at the youth level. Reyes is also open to both countries at the senior International level if the opportunity comes in the future.
Reyes, who was born in Harris County, Texas is coming off making his second ever appearance for “Rayados”. It was only 4′ in a 5-1 win against Club León FC, but Reyes has made the first team bench in every game this season for the Monterrey side.
CF Monterrey is one of the biggest spenders in all of Mexican football with a squad value of $80.52 Million. So to see Jacobo Reyes consistently make the first team bench to start the season for such a club in Mexico is a huge accomplishment for the young winger.
Reyes has also started for Raya2 twice when the first team wasn’t playing in “Liga Expansion MX“, amassing 136′ in the second division of Mexico.
It’s all but certain Jacobo Reyes has finally broken through into the first team at Rayados and is looked at as a first-team player by manager Víctor Vucetich.
But now with MLS teams interested in the player, could Jacobo Reyes see a return to the States to realize his dream of first-team minutes?
