Nine months we have to wait for this game; but instead of an incredible leg at Banc of California Stadium and historic Estadio Azteca, the game ended up being a single-elimination match at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Cruz Azul step in the field after an embarrassing defeat and elimination of 4-0 against Pumas. The Black and Gold; on the other hand, with three weeks without playing.

Jesús Corona did not travel due to COVID-19. Jonathan “Canecita” Rodriguez, their best striker, did not appear at the starting eleven, leaving his spot to Santiago Jimenez. Bob Btadley’ squad had every player available. The attack had Danny Mysovski instead of Brian Rodriguez. In the defense, Eddie Segura returned to the center.

Defensive mistakes and controversial penalties moved the score in the first half; Yoshimar Yotun scored with a spectacular shot at the 15th, and Carlos Vela did the same at the 38. Sebasián Jurado, Jesús Corona replacement, almost saved it. In general, the sub goalkeeper had a great performance.

No changes in the second half on either team. However, LAFC modifications made a difference. poku, who  was the natural replacement of Bradley Wright Philips, made an spectacular goal from out the  box. After that, the Californian team dominated the rest of the match. Carlos Vela was more participant in offensive plays, and Latif Blessing added speed to it.

LAFC will play against Club America next Saturday. The only MLS survivor has eliminated Leon and now Cruz Azul. Bob Bradley’s men have a good momentum.
