By The Numbers:
4: Pat Noonan has yet to lose to Jim Curtin and the Philadelphia Union in regular season play, a team he was formerly an assistant coach for.
10: FC Cincinnati break up Philadelphia’s perfect record when leading at the halftime break. The Union were 10-0-0 coming into Saturday’s match when leading at half.
11: After the conclusion of Saturday’s slate of matches in MLS play, FC Cincinnati’s magic number for clinching the Supporter’s Shield is down to 11 points. The earliest the Orange and Blue could clinch the Shield would be Saturday, September 23rd.
BOUP. THERE. IT. IS.
Aaron Boupendza played 42 minutes in Saturday’s contest, coming in at the start of the second half and exiting shortly after Yerson Mosquera was issued a Red Card. FC Cincinnati fans have been waiting for his breakout game… After all, Boupendza was the Brenner replacement, taking a coveted Designated Player spot on Cincinnati’s roster. Boupendza’s introduction into the match transformed the attack for Cincinnati.. an attack that was already missing MVP frontrunner Luciano Acosta. Boupendza was a key part of both goals – scoring the first and creating the chance for Vazquez on the second.
