Key Storylines:

  • Since last season, three of the four matchups between these two sides has ended in a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation.
  • FC Cincinnati has only lost 1 of their last 8 matchups against New York after losing their first four – including the infamous 2017 US Open Cup run in extra time.
  • Luciano Acosta had his fifth match of the MLS season with multiple goal contributions – he only trails Nashville’s Hany Mukhtar with six. He’ll look to join him at first while Nashville hosts Philadelphia.
  • Matt Miazga and Brandon Vazquez are still with the USMNT and unavailable for FC Cincinnati, John Tolkin with the USMNT and unavailable for New York Red Bulls.

FC Cincinnati Yellow Card Watch

1 Yellow Card from Suspension: Obinna Nwobodo, Matt Miazga

2 Yellow Cards from Suspension: Alvaro Barreal, Luciano Acosta, Sergio Santos, Yerson Mosquera

Key Player: Luciano Acosta (CIN)

Luciano Acosta may have a DP striker available at his disposal on Wednesday. Aaron Boupendza made his arrival to the club on Monday and has been participating in training. He’s expected to make his MLS debut on Wednesday.

Regardless of the role Boupendza plays, Acosta will be looking to cause problems for the New York Red Bulls. He missed the away fixture of Hell is Real last season due to a three match suspension against the Red Bulls, and a similar suspension would land him in the exact same situation this season. Luckily, Aaron Long is on the USMNT and unavailable for the match on Wednesday – and is also no longer on the New York Red Bulls roster.
