Key Player: Roman Celentano (CIN)
FC Cincinnati is without the services of Yerson Mosquera, who is serving a one-match suspension for yellow card accumulation on Wednesday. He probably wouldn’t have made the matchday roster, as he plays a friendly in Germany on Tuesday for Colombia, and the match is Wednesday. Regardless, he won’t be available. Matt Miazga is ruled out alongside Brandon Vazquez on international duty – both have been called up by the USMNT to prepare for the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup. Nick Hagglund is still a matchday decision, questionable with his hamstring injury alongside Sergio Santos. The backline is depleted.
FC Cincinnati’s strength this season has come from their ability to win matches with 1 or 2 goals scored. That won’t be so easy with all three starting center backs either out or questionable. FC Cincinnati will have to rely on Ian Murphy, Alvas Powell, and maybe even the likes of 2023 MLS SuperDraft pick Joey Akpunonu on Wednesday. Maybe we’ll see Cincinnati move to a 4-back instead of their 3-4-1-2 with the lack of depth at CB. Regardless, Cincinnati will need a strong performance from Celentano.
