MOTM: Obinna Nwobodo (CIN)

No one truly impressed against Vancouver on Saturday. Defensively the team was solid until a costly error by Miazga late led to a Vancouver equalizer. Acosta’s goal was a thing of beauty and individual brilliance. But he only played 22 minutes, and I’d like to give the award to someone else for a change.

Enter Obinna Nwobodo. On a unique artificial turf and after a long bit of travel to Vancouver, Nwobodo controlled the midfield for the entirety of the match and kept Cincinnati in it. 89% pass accuracy, 100% accuracy long balls, 4 tackles won (most by anyone in the match), 2 clearances, 6 recoveries, and 8 duels won at an 80% clip. Impressive stuff from Cincinnati’s #6, and a big reason why Cincinnati came away with a point on the road.
