BY THE NUMBERS

1: FC Cincinnati won against DC United at home for the first time in club history. The Orange and Blue won their first match against DC on the road last season on Decision Day, and have now won two straight against DC.

2: FC Cincinnati is still second in the East and second in the Supporter’s Shield table after MD11. Seattle plays against Sporting KC on Sunday, but cannot pass Cincinnati on the table with 4 points separating the two teams.

7: 7-0-0 at TQL Stadium in 2023 for the Orange and Blue – FC Cincinnati has gotten the maximum amount of points at home to start the season.

118: Roman Celentano now leads the club in all-time saves at 118. The previous owner of that record was former Polish international goalkeeper Przemysław Tytoń.

MOTM: Luciano Acosta (CIN)

If my memory serves me well, Acosta’s Olimpico goal was the first Olimpico since Haris Medunjanin’s goal back in the 2020 season at NYRB.

Acosta scored and assisted for the first time this season. The last time Acosta had both an assist and a goal? October 9th, 2022 – that’s right, Decision Day at DC United.

Acosta has had a slow start to the season, in fact, the whole FC Cincinnati squad has offensively. No, Acosta was 0/2 for dribbles and 0/4 on crosses. But his .01 xG Olimpico in front of the Bailey brought life to the team and supporters – and less than 15 minutes later, Acosta finds Barreal who smashes home the second. The captain produced. The team scored multiple goals – something they’ve done for the 4th time this season – and he was the catalyst for both.

UP NEXT

FC Cincinnati now turns their attention to NYCFC for a midweek clash on Wednesday, May 10th for the 4th round of the US Open Cup. FC Cincinnati 2 plays on the road in Toronto on Sunday, May 7th.
