MOTM: Luciano Acosta
I… would have put this up to a vote, but I was traveling back from Louisville, and this one seemed like no brainer. History made on Saturday for Acosta, who takes home the ASN MOTM honors for FC Cincinnati’s win on Saturday.
Charlotte FC vs FC Cincinnati
- MLS Regular Season Matchday 7
- Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC
- March 30, 2024 – 7:30 pm EST
- MLS Season Pass, Apple TV+
Have you watched the Charlotte/Columbus match from Saturday? I did. It was a mess. But, at the end of the day, Charlotte beat the reigning MLS Cup champions, the Columbus Crew, at home. Now they host the other Ohio team, FC Cincinnati, who are atop the Supporters’ Shield table after Matchday 6.
FC Cincinnati have yet to win at Charlotte: a 2-0 loss in 2022 and a 2-2 draw in 2023, and they go into Charlotte in 2024 with the home team winning both home fixtures to start 2024 (2/24 vs NYC, 3/23 vs COL). The turf, which injured multiple Columbus players last week, may result in some caution for players returning from injuries – Obinna Nwobodo in particular.
Marco Angulo
Marco Angulo’s loan deal to Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito in Ecuador was completed since the last update post, with Area Sports Network breaking the news of the loan transfer (with purchase option) on X/Twitter.
