December 19, 2023 (CINCINNATI, OH) – Another year, another offseason… and another MLS SuperDraft has come and gone. FC Cincinnati will have two picks to start the day, the 27th overall pick in the first round, and the 56th overall pick in the second round. FC Cincinnati traded their third round pick for this year’s draft to Austin FC for former MLS SuperDraft first round pick Kipp Keller.
Round 1, Pick 27: Brian Schaefer (Defender, University of South Florida)
Schaefer, who earned AAC Second-Team All-Conference honors in 2022, played in 53 matches with USF across four seasons. Adds to the list of young, former NCAA CBs on FC Cincinnati’s roster – Ian Murphy, Joey Akpunonu, London Aghedo, and Kipp Keller.

Round 2, Pick 56: Kenji Mboma Dem (Forward, University of Dayton)
Kenji Mboma Dem played his first three years of collegiate ball at Omaha, before transferring to Dayton for his senior season. First Team All-Atlantic 10 in 2023, he scored 9 goals in 15 games with the Flyers.
