La Selecta and Umbro official social network accounts revealed the special kits that all national squads will wear throughout the year, honoring the country’s cultural and natural heritage.
On Feb 15. Umbro, official kit supplier of the Salvadoran National Team launched a special jersey to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the declaration of the Turquoise-Browed motmot as their national bird. It is also known as “El Torogoz.” in El Salvador. The bird is the core inspiration, especially for the pre-match jersey and white “away” jersey. It has not been confirmed whether this kit will debut sometime this year or replace the current away kit.
This is not the first time Umbro releases a special jersey. In 2020, the same supplier unveiled a jersey commemorating 50 years of El Salvador’s first qualification for a World Cup in Mexico 1970 making them the first Central American nation to play in the most prestigious soccer tournament of the world.
What is special about these new kits?

Umbro created exceptional designs representing El Salvador’s history for the pre-match jersey and the tee. This time, the black color does not feature any of these jerseys, which El Salvador has been doing since 2018 usually as a special or third kit. For these units, the darker blue tones stand out as opposed to the classical cobalt blue.
The pre-match jersey features a royal blue tone all around with patterns of shapes of the Torogoz bird around the shirt. The shapes of the Torogoz are light blue, white, and beige. The Umbro and the “ES” lettering have outlines of blue and peach. Jorge “Magico” Gonzalez wore the pre-match top during the El Salvador vs Inter Miami match before kick-off.
The Tee edition has a simplistic design featuring a solo color (Navy Blue) all around the jersey. The umbro and ES lettering are shaded in Navy blue similar to what Denmark wore in 2022 with an all-red design. David Doniga poses showcasing the elegancy of this new kit.

And finally, the 2024 special jersey features an all-white design with shades of navy blue around the shoulders and upper arms area. El Salvador has opted for a stylish full-collar jersey since 2019. The shirt has a pattern of parallel blue lines that represent the tail of the Motmot bird. The lettering for the sponsor and the team’s crest is navy blue.
With the kit’s launch, Umbro has also released a collection of jackets, training tops, hoodies, hats, and T-shirts for those who want a full Selecta gear.
If you want to purchase these new kits, you can buy them directly through the Umbro Premier website, retailing at USD 90.00.
