Columbus is coming off of their bye week after they dropped two of their last three matches, both in MLS. In the Black and Gold’s loss to Inter Miami two weeks ago, they got their star striker and club-record transfer Cucho Hernandez back, as he scored in the 10th minute.

Last Round

Columbus gets to the Round of 32 after beating USL Championship side Indy Eleven at Lower.com Field two weeks ago. An 83rd-minute goal from Mohamed Farsi was enough for the Black and Gold to scrape by Indy Eleven.

Last Results

  • Columbus Crew 1-2 Inter Miami
  • Loudoun United 1-2 Indy Eleven

Head-to-Head

This will be the first meeting between these two teams in a competitive setting.

Injury Report

Though Cucho is back and playing, do not expect to see him Wednesday night. Eloy Room also did not practice on Tuesday. Alex Matan and Milôs Degenek both received knocks in the game against Inter Miami, so expect them to also sit out for a couple of extra days of rest.

Projected Starting XI

Expect a similar lineup to the group that played against Indy Eleven. A young group with a couple of veterans sprinkled in. Expect Max Arfsten and Jacen Russell-Rowe to start for the Black and Gold, with Evan Bush between the pipes.

What to Expect from Columbus

After having the weekend off, expect a rested group that is ready to get back, though the squad for the midweek cup game will be youthful. After two straight MLS losses, expect them to get back on track before they host Orlando City on Saturday.

Reigning MLS Next Pro MVP Jacen Russell-Rowe will look to continue to improve, while a youthful midfield of Isaiah Parente and Sean Zawadzki to prove they should earn some first-team minutes.

Loudoun United Scouting Report

Loudoun United is coming off two USL Championship losses to the Phoenix Rising (1-3) and Indy Eleven (1-2). They have struggled to finish the chances that they have gotten, even though they created more chances against Indy Eleven.
