Reign conquered The West after a draw against San Diego and now is waiting for the semifinals of the NWSL Challenge Cup.
At the Torero Stadium, in San Diego, California, the fans could see a 1-1 draw between OL Reign and San Diego Wave.
In the first half, the Reign had the ball and in minute 12, Ally Watt – the player of the match – scored her first professional goal in the NWSL, 0-1.
The home team tried to find the equalizer a few times, and the keeper Tullis-Joyce made good saves. However, in the final minutes before the break, Alex Morgan leveled the game with a penalty kick, 1-1.
During the second half, the game became more even. The Seattle team created chances with Huerta, Watt, and Latsko, but the attempts weren’t so effective.
On the other side of the field, San Diego had a bad time when Kelsey Turnbow received the second yellow and left the pitch earlier. Even so, they kept the intensity, and also had good opportunities with set-pieces, but it wasn’t enough to break the tie. At last, the final whistle announced that Laura Harvey’s squad conquered The West, and now the semifinals await!
