Chicago travelled to Washington state to face OL Reign after playing on a short week of rest.
In their last match, Chicago drew 1-1 against the Washington Spirit.
The Red Stars struggled from the beginning to find their offensive rhythm and in the 1st minute Reign midfielder Shirley Cruz scored a goal to put Reign up 0-1.
Katie Johnson had a shot on goal in the 10th minute but it went right into the hands of OL goalkeeper Bouhaddi. The Reign gave Chicago high pressure throughout the match and Chicago had trouble connecting and finishing their passes.
Red Stars keeper Alyssa Naeher made a save in the 16th minute but two minutes later Reign forward, Sofia Huerta sent a ball in to Bethany Balcer who scored on a header to put the Reign up 0-2.
Later in the match some substitutions were made for both sides. Reign forward Megan Rapinoe dribbled up the left side and cut the ball into Dzsenifer Marozsan that was blocked by the defender. Huerta managed to take a shot but it was a fantastic stop by Naeher.
The Red Stars almost had a chance to put one on the board in the 81st minute off an awkward bounce that landed at the feet of Katie Johnson, however it was saved by Bouhaddi. The Reign had multiple chances in the final 15 minutes of the match to go by up more goals but Naeher was able to make key saves to keep it 0-2.
Chicago will travel back home and take on Racing Louisville at 1:00 PM CT.
