Theoson Siebatcheu puts the USMNT in the Nations League final
After the unfortunate result against Switzerland, the USMNT returned home to participate in the CONCACAF Nations League tournament. Colorado would host the national team after almost 600 days without a competitive match, making the fixture against Honduras even more meaningful. A win secured a spot in the final game, enough motivation for both teams to display their best football for 90 minutes. The National team, however, arrived at the game with a key man on their side, Christian Pulisic joined the squad ready to make a difference on the field.
The USMNT shows promise despite losing to Switzerland
The USMNT traveled to Europe to finalize details ahead of the Nations League tournament. Switzerland was the rival to put the National Team to the test with a task of their own as well. The Euros are also set to begin soon, and Switzerland is looking to continue its positive participation in the different international tournaments. The USMNT arrived with a squad with players that had outstanding performances in their respective leagues. The most significant absence was Christian Pulisic, who won the Champions League trophy with Chelsea F.C and will join the team for the game against Honduras.
The Olympic dream concludes
The Olympic dream will have to wait for the USYNT after losing to Honduras in the Olympic qualifiers. It could be argued that individual mistakes lead to defeat, but I believe that they leave positive points behind. The team was able to build up and gain momentum despite outside factors that limited their potential. From players not being released by clubs to many joining the camp without proper fitness preparations, the list can go on. Although, I'm sure that if the circumstances were different, we would have seen one of the strongest youth teams to date. The result is disappointing, and one could easily point out the flaws or mistakes that lead to a negative outcome. I, however, chose to focus on the positive points that the team left in regard tothe future.
Chasing the Olympic dream
The CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying tournament reaches a decisive stage in the semifinals. The USYNT will face off against Honduras for one place in Tokyo this summer. It's no secret that the National team struggled in the last game against Mexico. Head Coach Jason Kreis addressed the media about the upcoming game and gave his impressions about what to expect from their rivals.
A promising future
A world-class display by Serginho Dest helped the USMNT clinch a dominant victory over Jamaica. The man of the match continued his scoring streak from his latest club performance, while newcomer Yannus Musah got his first start for the National team. The squad now works towards the game against Northern Ireland next week.
